About

My name is Angela Bell and I set up The Buttermilk Barn in August, 2008.

Although my background is in fashion and advertising, my first love has always been cooking.

Over the last 20 years, I have been fortunate enough to be taught at some of the most highly regarded cookery schools, such as Leith’s of London, Mosimann’s Academy and Butler’s Wharf Chef School.

The Buttermilk Barn Cookery School is a truly warm and inviting place to learn to cook. We run 15 courses a week for children and adults, all of which are very ‘hands-on’ and taught in a relaxed and entertaining way.

Whether you are a child or a ‘confident cook’, the school has an abundance of wonderfully experienced and award winning cooks and chefs waiting to fill you with confidence and inspiration.

All the ingredients are included in the cost of every one of our courses or workshops and we encourage the use of seasonal, local and free-range produce.

We hope to meet you

  • We aim to show children the wonder of cooking. They learn how to cook a wide variety of savoury supper dishes using fresh and healthy ingredients.

  • The pre-university courses are aimed at teaching students how to prepare quick, easy, healthy and 'budget-friendly' meals helping to equip them with a vital life skill.

  • GaryRhodes.jpgThe Buttermilk Barn looks a fantastic Cookery School and an excellent place to both teach and learn to cook. I would like to wish you all the best and I’m sure everyone who visits will have a very enjoyable and worthwhile cooking experience!
